What is Health Surveillance?
Health surveillance is a system of ongoing health checks. These health checks may be required by law for employees who are exposed to noise or vibration, ionising radiation, solvents, fumes, dusts, biological agents and other substances hazardous to health, or work in compressed air.

When should surveillance be carried out?
Health surveillance should be carried out at least annually. It should start at the beginning of employment so employers and employees have a baseline measurement of health to ensure work is not causing an ill health effects.

How do I know if I need Health Surveillance?
Through your Risk Assessments
You should strongly consider occupational health surveillance if your employees are at risk from:
